If you recently checked your NELFUND portal and saw that your loan application was rejected with the message:
“This session has closed. Kindly apply for the next session.”
Don’t panic.
The major reason many pending or yet-to-be-approved applications were rejected is because the 2025/2026 application session has ended.
Once a session closes, applications that were still pending and had not been approved may no longer be processed under that session, giving affected students the opportunity to apply again when applications for the new session open.
So if your application was rejected because the session closed, this does not necessarily mean that you are permanently disqualified from receiving the NELFUND loan.
You may need to reapply for the new session once the application window becomes available.
At the moment, we advise affected students to keep checking for official updates and avoid rushing to anybody claiming they can “fix” or approve your NELFUND application for money.
