Tax laws_ We’ve no business with your transfer narrations, FG tells Nigerians
Title: Tax laws: We’ve no business with your transfer narrations, FG tells Nigerians URL: https://studentsdash.com/tax-laws-no-business-with-your-transfer-narrations/ -------------------------------------------------- Tax laws: We’ve no business with your transfer narrations, FG tells Nigerians The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the newly introduced tax reforms will not involve monitoring bank transfer narrations or debiting personal bank accounts . This clarification was made by Taiwo Oyedele , Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, during an end-of-year interview on Channels Television . His statement comes after widespread fear and misinformation online suggesting that the government plans to tax Nigerians directly through their bank transfers. “No One Is Monitoring Your Bank Transfers” – Oyedele Speaking during the programme, Oyedele made it clear that there is no system anywhere in the world where tax authorities monitor every individual’s bank transactions. “There is no tax man in the world that has the capacity to go after everyone,” he said. He explained that ordinary Nigerians should not worry about how they describe their bank transfers, no matter the amount involved. “Any amount of money you transfer, whether it’s $1 billion or ₦1,000, it doesn’t matter how you describe it. Nobody will debit your bank account.” How the New Tax System Will Work According to Oyedele, the reformed tax system is based on self-declaration , not forced deductions. At the end of the year: You declare your income yourself You pay tax only on what qualifies as income If you are exempted , you simply declare and pay nothing “You know the amount that is your income. You know the one that is not your income. So you tell the government, this is my income, and here is the tax.” This means Nigerians are not taxed blindly and no money will be taken from their accounts without consent. Why Some People Are Opposing the Tax Reforms Oyedele also addressed the misinformation being spread online , especially by some content creators. He noted that many of those opposing the reforms are actually high earners who do not want to pay tax. “There are content creators who admitted they make up to $10,000 a month. They don’t want to pay tax. So they spread fear that the government will debit your ₦5,000.” He warned Nigerians to be careful of false narratives designed to stir public anger. Good News for Small Business Owners One of the biggest benefits of the new tax reform, according to Oyedele, is for small businesses and sole proprietors . He explained that: Small business owners currently face too many levies and taxes Many operate informally without business names The reform aims to simplify taxes and reduce pressure on small earners “If you run a small business, this is one of the biggest benefits of the tax reform.” Final Thoughts The Federal Government insists that the tax reforms are meant to: Protect low-income earners Simplify tax reporting Reduce multiple taxes on small businesses Make the tax system more fair and progressive Nigerians have been advised to ignore misleading information and seek facts from reliable sources. Let’s explain what it really means and how to fix it. Why You’re Seeing “Unapproved Loan” The reason you’re seeing this message is because your previous loan (either for school fees or upkeep from the last session) is still showing as verified or pending in the NELFUND system. Why Does My NELFUND Dashboard Show “No Record Found”_
Title: Why Does My NELFUND Dashboard Show “No Record Found”? URL: https://studentsdash.com/why-does-my-nelfund-dashboard-show-no-record-found/ -------------------------------------------------- Seeing a “No Record Found” message on your NELFUND dashboard can be alarming, especially if you’ve already completed your application. Many students immediately assume their application has been deleted or rejected. Fortunately, that’s not always the case. If you’re seeing this message, here’s what it could mean and what you should do next. What Does “No Record Found” Mean? The “No Record Found” message simply means that the system could not locate your application or information at that moment. This doesn’t always mean your application has been lost. Sometimes, it may be caused by temporary system issues, incorrect login details, or ongoing updates on the NELFUND portal. Before panicking, try checking your dashboard again after some time. Did You Log In With the Correct Details? One of the most common reasons for this message is logging in with different details from the ones used during registration. Make sure you’re using: The correct email address. The correct phone number (if applicable). The correct login credentials linked to your application. Using a different account may cause the portal to display “No Record Found.” The Portal May Be Undergoing Updates From time to time, NELFUND may carry out maintenance or update its system. During these periods, some students may temporarily experience missing records, dashboard errors, or delayed updates. If many students are reporting similar issues, it’s often best to wait and try again later. Your Application May Still Be Processing If you submitted your application recently, your information may still be undergoing processing. It can sometimes take time before your application fully reflects on the dashboard. If your dashboard has not updated for a while, you should also read: Why Hasn’t My NELFUND Dashboard Updated? https://studentsdash.com/why-hasnt-my-nelfund-dashboard-updated Don’t Submit Another Application Immediately Some students rush to create a new application after seeing “No Record Found.” This is usually not recommended unless NELFUND officially instructs you to do so. Submitting multiple applications may create unnecessary complications. Learn more here: Can You Apply for NELFUND Twice? https://studentsdash.com/can-you-apply-for-nelfund-twice What Should You Do? If your dashboard shows “No Record Found,” follow these steps: Confirm you’re logging in with the correct details. Refresh the page or try again later. Check if the NELFUND portal is experiencing temporary issues. Avoid creating another application immediately. Contact NELFUND support if the issue continues for an extended period. Frequently Asked Questions Does “No Record Found” mean my application was rejected? No. It doesn’t automatically mean your application has been rejected. There could be several reasons why the message appears. Should I apply again? Not immediately. First, confirm your login details and wait to see if the issue resolves before considering any further action. Can a system update cause this error? Yes. Temporary portal maintenance or system updates may sometimes affect what appears on your dashboard. What if the message doesn’t disappear? If the issue continues for several days, consider contacting NELFUND support for clarification. Final Thoughts Seeing “No Record Found” on your NELFUND dashboard can be worrying, but it doesn’t necessarily mean your application has been lost or rejected. In many cases, the issue is temporary and can be resolved by confirming your login details or waiting for system updates to finish. Why Is My NELFUND Upkeep Payment Taking Longer Than Other Students_
Title: Why Is My NELFUND Upkeep Payment Taking Longer Than Other Students? URL: https://studentsdash.com/why-is-my-nelfund-upkeep-payment-taking-longer-than-other-students/ -------------------------------------------------- If your friends or classmates have already received their NELFUND upkeep payment , but you’re still waiting, don’t panic. This is one of the most common concerns among students benefiting from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). The truth is that not everyone receives their upkeep payment on the same day. There are several reasons why your payment may be taking longer, and in most cases, it does not mean there’s a problem with your application. Here’s what you should know. NELFUND Payments Are Processed in Batches One of the biggest reasons for payment delays is that NELFUND usually processes payments in batches. Instead of sending upkeep payments to every eligible student at once, payments are released gradually. This means some students may receive their funds today, while others may have to wait several days or even weeks before their own payment is processed. So, if your roommate or coursemate has already been paid, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve been left out. Your School’s Verification Process Can Affect Payment Before upkeep payments are released, schools may still need to verify certain student records. Some institutions complete this process faster than others, which is why students from different schools—or even the same school—may receive payments at different times. If your application status recently changed to Verified , that’s generally a positive sign. However, being verified doesn’t always mean your payment has already been sent. If you’re unsure what this status means, you can read our guide: What Does Verified Mean on Your NELFUND Dashboard? https://studentsdash.com/what-does-verified-mean-on-your-nelfund-dashboard Check Your NELFUND Dashboard Status Your dashboard provides important information about the stage of your application. If your status still shows: Pending Under Review Verified your upkeep payment may still be undergoing processing. It’s important to understand that Verified and Payment Disbursed are not the same thing. If your dashboard hasn’t changed for a long time, this article may help: Why Hasn’t My NELFUND Dashboard Updated? https://studentsdash.com/why-hasnt-my-nelfund-dashboard-updated Does Your Bank Affect Payment Speed? Many students believe their bank is the reason they’re still waiting. In most cases, your bank is not the primary cause of delayed NELFUND payments. While different banks may process incoming transfers at slightly different speeds, NELFUND’s payment schedule and processing batches usually have a much bigger impact. Before changing your bank account, read our detailed explanation: Does Your Bank Affect How Fast You Receive NELFUND Payment? Does Your Bank Affect How Fast You Receive NELFUND Payment? High Payment Volume Can Cause Delays NELFUND processes payments for thousands of students across Nigeria. When large numbers of payments are being handled simultaneously, it may take extra time before every eligible student receives their upkeep allowance. This is completely normal and happens during many payment cycles. What Should You Do If You’re Still Waiting? If your upkeep payment hasn’t arrived yet, here are a few things you should do: Check your NELFUND dashboard regularly for updates. Confirm that your bank account details are correct. Ensure your bank account is active and can receive transfers. Avoid submitting multiple applications. Be patient while waiting for the next payment batch. Most importantly, don’t rely on rumors or unofficial information circulating on social media. When Should You Contact NELFUND? If several weeks have passed since students with similar application dates received their payments, and your dashboard hasn’t changed, you may consider contacting NELFUND or your institution for clarification. Before reaching out, make sure all the information you submitted during your application is correct. Frequently Asked Questions Why has my friend received NELFUND payment but I haven’t? NELFUND usually pays students in batches, so it’s common for some students to receive their upkeep earlier than others. Does “Verified” mean my upkeep payment has been sent? No. Verified simply means your information has been confirmed. Your payment may still be awaiting processing. Should I change my bank account because of the delay? Not unless NELFUND specifically instructs you to do so. Changing your account details during processing could lead to additional delays. Can students from the same school receive payment on different dates? Yes. Even students from the same institution may receive their upkeep on different days due to batch processing. Final Thoughts Waiting longer than other students to receive your NELFUND upkeep payment can be frustrating, but it doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. Most delays are caused by payment batches, verification timelines, or normal processing procedures. Continue checking your dashboard, ensure your details are accurate, and stay updated through trusted sources while your payment is being processed.
